"The staff here are very friendly, I'm being treated by Clare and she is so genuine and caring, she is very knowledgeable about the treatments I'm having and I feel very confident that they know exactly what I need to get the results I'm after. I was nervous about doing too strong of a treatment at first, and Clare was more than happy to start lightly just to make sure I was happy and that my skin responded positively to the treatment for the first few sessions. They do book out quite quickly in advance but it's for a reason, they are very good and provide such a wonderful service!"

"I went to see the skin cancer doctor here as I had a melanoma on my arm that was biopsied by my GP, I was told I should go to an expert to get the melanoma removed as it was in tricky spot. So I went to skin alert to ask how much it would cost approximately to be removed and when can it be done as I was really worried about it and in shock. The dr was so rude and told me I had to pay a consultation fee before he could even look at it and he asked me what did I expect? As if I wanted his services for free? I had to decide there and then if I want to pay $170 just for him to tell me when he could fit me in to get it removed. I left in tears and didn’t know what to do, I then called up another skin care clinic close by and they let me come in the same day as it was urgent, they had it taken out within the week while explaining everything and they helped me. This Dr was heartless especially since I had just finished chemotherapy for breast cancer and then I had this happen to me a few months later. He didn’t want to help what so ever all he thought about was $$$$ first"

Every visit I feel so comfortable and know I'm in the best hands. Such kind and caring professionals who genuinely want the best outcomes for their patients. Emily and Renee are always so warming and welcoming and the whole experience is always so pleasant . Very lucky to have them in Cairns"

"I’ve had a few different appointments, including laser tattoo removal, laser hair removal, and a facial. Each service has been excellent, and every staff member I’ve dealt with has been kind, professional, and made me feel comfortable. The results have been great, and the whole experience has been really positive. Highly recommend this clinic!"

About this listing

Skin Alert Cairns Skin Cancer and Cosmetic Clinic in Westcourt, Cairns

Skin Alert Cairns Skin Cancer and Cosmetic Clinic is a non-surgical practice in Westcourt, a suburb of Cairns in QLD. Non-surgical cosmetic clinics provide procedures such as injectables, energy-based devices, peels and skin treatments. These services are governed by AHPRA advertising guidelines and the relevant scope-of-practice rules for the treating practitioner.

All information on this page β€” including contact details, opening hours, and any photos β€” is sourced from publicly available business directory data and the practice's own published material. This profile has not yet been independently verified by our editorial team. If you are the practice owner, you can claim the listing to confirm details and update copy. Always confirm a treating practitioner's registration directly on the AHPRA register before booking β€” the public register is the authoritative source for current registration status, specialist endorsements, and any conditions, undertakings or restrictions on practice.

Cairns is one of the larger cosmetic-care markets in QLD, with practices ranging from Specialist Plastic Surgeons (FRACS) operating in licensed day-hospitals through to non-surgical clinics in suburban shopfronts. When comparing practices, consider where surgery is actually performed, whether the anaesthetist is a Specialist Anaesthetist (FANZCA) where applicable, and what the clinic's written revision policy looks like. Quotes should cover the full pathway β€” consultation, surgical fee, anaesthetist fee, hospital fee, garments and standard follow-up β€” rather than a single headline figure.

Non-surgical cosmetic procedures β€” injectables, laser and energy-based devices, peels and skin treatments β€” must still be carried out by an appropriately registered practitioner working within their scope of practice. Schedule 4 prescription products (which include most cosmetic injectables) require a consultation with a doctor or nurse practitioner and an individual prescription for that patient. Reasonable practices document the practitioner providing the prescription, the practitioner administering the treatment, and the dose given.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Who is the treating practitioner, and what is their AHPRA registration number?
  • Which procedures does the practice perform on-site versus referring out?
  • For prescription products, who provides the prescription and who administers the treatment?
  • What is the protocol if you have an adverse event after a treatment?
  • What follow-up is included in the quoted price?
  • What does the full quote include β€” consultation, treatment, follow-up, and any garments or aftercare products?
  • Are you given written information to take home before consenting to a procedure?

How to verify any cosmetic surgeon on AHPRA

AHPRA registration is the baseline credential check for any cosmetic procedure in Australia. The five steps below take roughly two minutes and are the single most important due-diligence step before paying a deposit.

  1. 1

    Open the AHPRA register

AHPRA publishes a free public register of every registered medical practitioner in Australia. Open the official register β€” never rely on a third-party "verification" site.

  2. 2

Search by name and "Medical Practitioner"

Search by the practitioner's full name and select Profession: Medical Practitioner. The register returns active registrations only β€” if the name does not appear, do not proceed.

  3. 3

Confirm the specialty (or its absence)

Look at the "Specialty" field. A FRACS specialist plastic surgeon will list "Specialist Surgery β€” Plastic Surgery". Anyone who calls themselves a "cosmetic surgeon" without a recognised specialty is a general medical practitioner under AHPRA β€” that is a meaningful difference for surgical work.

  4. 4

Check for conditions, undertakings, or restrictions

The register flags any conditions on a practitioner's registration, including AHPRA undertakings or restrictions. Treat any flag as a reason to ask the practitioner directly what it relates to before booking.

  5. 5

    Verify hospital privileges separately

Hospital privileges are issued by the hospital, not AHPRA. For surgical procedures, ask which accredited hospital or licensed day-procedure centre the operation will take place in, and verify the surgeon has admitting rights there.
