"A really good experience! I saw Dr Michael Freeman who was informative, professional and knowledgeable. His manner immediately made me feel relaxed and assured. They managed to fit me in there and then for laser treatment for a problematic surface vein and venous lake on my lip. All of the staff were friendly and efficient. I can't speak highly enough of the team here at The Skin Centre and the treatment and care I received."

"I suggest if needing a dermatologist, to ring multiple practices to find out the waiting time to get in, before going to your doc for a referral. Snr and Jrn Dr Freeman are booked out for 6 mths. I got an appointment with the other dermatologist there, Dr Warren, in 4 mths. He was good, but I personally don't want to consult with someone who still wears a face mask in 2025. I asked about it and he said they prevent him from catching colds or flu and he wears one everyday. I had no cold or flu symptoms. We had to put up with just seeing peoples' eyes when communicating during the pandemic, but there should be no reason for anyone to now live in a face mask at work. Maybe he has a compromised immune system, but I found it odd and annoying. He didn't have a cold or flu. When I paid my $100 consult deposit over the phone, a surcharge of $1.02 was also charged, without being told about it. I've NEVER been charged debit card charges at any medical facility. I thought the charge was rude, considering the high fees specialists charge and the $236 gap fee patients have to pay there."

"Dr Andrew Freeman has helped me manage my acne for years, and my skin is now looking great. He’s knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely cares about his patients. I would highly recommend him to anyone struggling with acne or skin concerns"

"I'm quite disappointed with my recent experience at this center. Years ago, my visit went smoothly, but this time was a different story. When you call, they'll inform you of a minimum six-month wait, but I wouldn't rely on them to manage your booking after all that time. The most senior receptionist proved to be the least competent and handled the situation with arrogance and poor manners when it was brought to her attention. I informed the reception that I would prefer to make an alteration to the day and time for my appointment, and they assured me it wasn't an issue due to a cancellation slot. However, they rescheduled me for a time I couldn't accommodate without consulting me first, in conjunction with canceling my original appointment. Instead of confirming the new date and time before canceling my original appointment, they failed to do so and didn’t rectify their mistake. As a result, I was left waiting for another six months due to the receptionist's mismanagement, as I couldn't make the newly enforced time for the new appointment. If I had known she would choose an inconvenient time for me, I would have kept the original appointment and I would have seen the doctor. I pointed out that most people work a 9-to-5 schedule and need to plan accordingly, but she made it clear that the doctors come first and patients should work around their availability. This approach is ridiculous, arrogant, and unacceptable, and it provides no excuse for failing to communicate with me or any patient to confirm a new agreed appointment before canceling the original, then placing me, at the back of the line despite the urgent nature of the appointment and. They demonstrated no care or concern to rectify their failure to manage an important appointment. I would strongly advise considering other excellent options on the Gold Coast instead, as this is not one of them."

About this listing
The Skin Centre - Dr Michael Freeman in Benowa, Gold Coast
The Skin Centre - Dr Michael Freeman is a dermatology practice in Benowa, a suburb of Gold Coast in QLD. Dermatology practices that offer cosmetic services are regulated under the same general AHPRA framework and may also offer skin cancer screening, medical dermatology and prescription-only treatments alongside cosmetic procedures.
All information on this page — including contact details, opening hours, and any photos — is sourced from publicly available business directory data and the practice's own published material. This profile has not yet been independently verified by our editorial team. If you are the practice owner, you can claim the listing to confirm details and update copy. Always confirm a treating practitioner's registration directly on the AHPRA register before booking — the public register is the authoritative source for current registration status, specialist endorsements, and any conditions, undertakings or restrictions on practice.
Gold Coast is one of the larger cosmetic-care markets in QLD, with practices ranging from Specialist Plastic Surgeons (FRACS) operating in licensed day-hospitals through to non-surgical clinics in suburban shopfronts. When comparing practices, consider where surgery is actually performed, whether the anaesthetist is a Specialist Anaesthetist (FANZCA) where applicable, and what the clinic's written revision policy looks like. Quotes should cover the full pathway — consultation, surgical fee, anaesthetist fee, hospital fee, garments and standard follow-up — rather than a single headline figure.
Specialist Dermatologists complete a minimum of twelve years of medical and surgical training, including a four-year accredited training program overseen by the Australasian College of Dermatologists. The "Specialist Dermatologist" title is protected under AHPRA registration. When a dermatology practice offers cosmetic services alongside medical dermatology, the same specialist standards apply.
