Recovery β€” common questions

How long is recovery after cosmetic surgery?

It ranges from zero downtime for injectables to around 5–6 weeks for a tummy tuck or mummy makeover. The timeline this tool shows is the typical period before most patients return to normal daily activity β€” full settling of results often takes 3–12 months.

Can I combine procedures to save recovery time?

Combining procedures (for example a breast lift with a tummy tuck) means one recovery instead of two, but the combined recovery is usually dictated by the longest procedure plus extra caution time. This tool adds a buffer when you select more than one procedure.

When can I go back to work?

Desk work is often possible within a few days for minor procedures and 2–3 weeks for major surgery. Physical jobs need longer. Your surgeon will give procedure-specific clearance β€” follow it over any general guide.

When can I exercise again?

Walking is encouraged within days of almost any procedure. Gentle cardio typically resumes at 2–4 weeks, and heavy lifting or high-impact training at 6–8 weeks for major surgery. Injectables usually just require skipping the gym for 24 hours.

What slows recovery down?

Smoking and vaping, poor nutrition, uncontrolled diabetes, high BMI, ignoring garment instructions and returning to activity too early are the big ones. Following your surgeon's aftercare plan is the single most controllable factor.
